There are 3 concert bands at NCHS. (Wind Ensemble, Symphonic Winds & Concert Winds) They play 3 or 4 concerts each year. In addition, the Wind Ensemble also participates in IHSA Organization contest, Solo/Ensemble contest, and other music festivals around the state. Unit 5 MP - Music Camp Scholarships
The Unit 5 Music Parents Association has budgeted $1,200 to offer to students that attend a summer music camp or program. The scholarship money will be equally divided among all of the students that are submitted by the directors of the Unit 5 music programs. The deadline has been moved earlier from previous years.
All names for the Unit 5 Music Parents scholarship funds must be submitted by Friday, 5/21/2010. There are no exceptions to this deadline! This deadline allows time for the checks to be written, mailed, and recorded before the end of the current fiscal year. Please send the following information for each student that is submitted:
a) Student's name.
b) Parent/Guardian name - this is important because the check is written to the parent/guardian and not the student.
c) Parent/Guardian complete address - needed to mail the check.
Information should be sent to Kim Monical by the Friday, 5/21/2010, deadline. Please contact me if there are any questions.

Dear Band Parents
Dear band parents,
We have found an increasing number of school-owned instruments in lockers with the cases left open. Per the Band Handbook, we will be assessing a $25.00 fine to students each time this occurs. Please be aware of this policy and inform/remind your student(s) that cases must be closed when school-owned instruments are stored in our open-air lockers. We highly recommend the same for student-owned instruments. An instrument left in a locker with the case open offers an opportunity for vandalism and destruction of school property. Also, each student must have his/her own combination lock; please check with your student(s) to make sure they have one for their band locker. Finally, there is to be no food or drink stored in the lockers at any time.

Congratulations!
Congratulations to the NCHS Wind Ensemble! This last weekend the Wind Ensemble competed in the State of Illinois Invitational Concert Band Contest at Illinois State University and won 2nd place in Class 5A competition.

Saturday Band Event
Band Director instructions for Saturday:
Call time is at 11:45 a.m. students should dress casual (orange and black is a good idea). Bring instrument and music and wire music stand if you have one. Students should unload and enter at the loading dock located on the corner of Front and Lee streets.
Parents attending the game will need to buy a ticket at the box office. I am told that there should be free parking available but i don't know that for a fact. (See map below.)

The annual Unit Five Music Parents Association Spaghetti Supper will be held on Monday, Nov. 5, 2007 in the NCHS cafeteria.
Your band member has been given tickets for this event. The money for these tickets (or the tickets themselves) must be turned in to their band director by November 4th.
Dinner includes: Avanti's Spaghetti, Bread, Salad, Drink & Dessert
